Robbers with hammer and machete “attack a man in” Elephant and Castle “in broad daylight” as terrified members of the public

Terrified members of the public watched as a man was attacked by thugs with a hammer and machete in front of a London Underground station. The incident, which is believed to be an attempt to steal a motorcycle, took place at around 6.20pm on Saturday (April 23rd) in front of the Elephant and Castle metro station.

Viewers filmed the scene in a video when a man in a helmet was seen running with a machete. Witnesses said the pedestrian fought with two men on a moped who attacked him.

The two men on the moped, one of whom was holding a hammer, then chased the man on foot. He managed to avoid them by standing on the sidewalk, then ran away before they fled the scene, the video shows.

He had a bicycle on the floor and another was looking in the wrong direction. walking with my aunt and saying “this man has a knife”, I saw the long blade … I just thought I would see someone die. I live in the countryside … it was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I just have to go back to the countryside. “
