VALORANT players finally saw the upcoming initiator, Fade, in action in a movie trailer ahead of the VCT Masters Grand Final in Reykjavik 2022 today.
Fade, the next initiator in VALORANT, has been annoyed for weeks. Recent updates have added a new cage to the shooting range, and a new audio message describes how several agents struggled to capture the deadly agent.
The cinematic trailer shows the same mission revealed in an audio message at Cypher’s office at the shooting range, where several agents were fighting to capture Fade. The trailer shows that Fade takes advantage of each agent’s worst fears, catching up with the teasers released last week.
The trailer also gives fans their first official look at some of Fade’s abilities, which seem to envelop players in dark, gas-like substance. This is probably the same effect that occurs when players enter Brimstone’s shooting range office. Fade also activates a shadow-like creature that flies to other agents. This ability will probably work like Skye’s dog, weakening players on impact.
Fade aims to provide an “intimate feeling when chasing enemies,” according to a blog post last month, and using their deepest fears is in line with that goal. Fans can probably expect new voice lines and interactions with various agents as they respond to Fade’s abilities.
The Fade cinema gives fans a small idea of the new agent, but players can expect footage from the gameplay after the Masters Reykjavík grand finale.
