COVID-19 Ontario: 1362 COVID-19 hospitalizations, intensive care units unchanged

Health officials reported 1,362 people at a COVID-19 hospital in Ontario, including 212 in the intensive care unit.

Data from Sunday may show a decrease in hospitalizations reported from the previous day, when the hospital had 1,684 patients. Meanwhile, those admitted to the intensive care unit remain unchanged – 212.

It should be noted that not all hospitals report patient data over the weekend.

Six deaths from the disease were reported on Sunday. Health officials say three of those deaths have occurred in the past 30 days. The other three took place before that and were added to the cumulative number due to “data cleansing”.

12,734 deaths have been reported in Ontario due to COVID-19.

With just over 16,000 tests for COVID-19 processed in the last 24 hours, the Department of Health says the Ontario test is about 15.5 percent.

At least 4,098 positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified through these tests, although this number is underestimated due to limited access to free PCR tests in the province.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ontario, 1,242,158 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported. That number includes 1,194,904 people who have recovered.
