Three people were killed and two were seriously injured in an A38 crash in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 23rd). At around 2.15 am, an ambulance was called in the accident in which one car was hit.
The silver Ford Focus was on the south lane of the A38, near the B600 exit at Somercotes, when it left the road and crashed into a tree. Two women and a man died on the spot.
Their families are aware and are supported by specially trained police officers. A man and a woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Both remain in hospital, the man is in critical condition and the woman is in stable condition.

The A38 was closed in both directions from junction 28 of the M1 to the B600 in the early hours of Saturday morning. The closure, which covered the village of Pinkston, on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, remained in force for several hours, and drivers were advised to find an alternative route.
The collision caused the car to catch fire. Derbyshire police officers investigating the incident shared their thoughts with relatives affected by the devastating disaster. Witnesses are asked to come forward, as well as all those who saw the car traveling south on the M1 before the collision.
