Drivers are facing chaos at rush hour on various highways near Manchester tonight with closed lanes and huge traffic delays after numerous accidents. There are accidents that occur on M62, M60 and M61, which cause delays in rush hour and traffic jams.
The M62 is completely closed on the M62 between J11 (Birchwood) to J12 (Eccles) to the east. The reason for this is a fire in a vehicle, as teams arrived on the scene and the drivers were temporarily detained.
Photos from the M62 show that the Morrison delivery truck is fully on fire. There are no reports of casualties, and the incident is still being resolved at 5 p.m.

All lanes were also temporarily closed on M61 between Salford and Bolton due to a police incident. Drivers were told to avoid the area while emergency services remained on the scene around 4.30pm. Since then, two lanes have reopened, one is still closed and traffic has accumulated.
This has also begun to affect M60 passengers, who are facing delays due to the ongoing M61 accident. The traffic jams were supported up to M60 counterclockwise from junction 16.
Traffic on the M60 tonight was supported due to numerous incidents
And earlier in the evening, traffic was stopped completely on the M6 after a police incident. It shows a brief increase in traffic to the north between J26 M58 (Orrell Interchange) and J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish). The Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police have been contacted for information.
