Ever since the original pair debuted in 2018, Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless headphones have received a ton of praise for their sound quality. After releasing a sequel in 2020, Sennheiser announced the third product in the series today – and this time they received a significant redesign. They will be available from May 10 in black, graphite and white for $ 249.95.
Momentum True Wireless 3 headphones look closer to the CX and CX Plus True Wireless than their direct predecessors. Apparently Sennheiser has chosen a kind of universal design language for its range of headphones and this is reflected here. Momentums really create a shinier and more premium impression than the company’s cheaper pimples.

The fabric-covered case is similar in shape and size to previous versions, although Sennheiser has moved the USB-C charging port to the front. This is becoming more common, with companies like Jabra recently making the same change. It looks a little weird at first, but may be more convenient in some boot scenarios. This new case also supports wireless charging, a feature that was missing from previous models – and it’s hard to take into account the asking price.
In addition to the refreshed style, Sennheiser says their latest headphones offer improvements in comfort, active noise reduction and call quality. But in two key areas – sound quality and battery life – they are not big improvements. Momentum True Wireless 3s continue to use German-made 7mm drivers. The Sennheiser mobile app now allows you to take a listening test to better customize bass, midrange and treble, but at least judging by the press release, I would expect the overall sound profile to be similar. True Wireless 3s supports adaptive Bluetooth codecs AAC, SBC and aptX. The latter should reduce any noticeable latency when using buds with devices that also use aptX Adaptive, while reaching higher bitrates than AAC.
Sennheiser has implemented adaptive noise reduction, which allows the Momentum True Wireless 3s to automatically adjust how much noise reduction is applied depending on the changing environment. The company says its “system constantly monitors ambient noise to suppress it in real time”, although consumers still have the option to adjust it manually to their liking.
Each of the two headphones already contains three microphones, which Sennheiser says has led to noticeable improvements and “crystal clear quality” for both voice and video calls. Battery life remains at seven hours of continuous playback, with the charging box lasting another 21 hours. Momentum True Wireless 3s are IPX4 certified for water resistance, which makes them suitable for training and light rain.
Apart from the updated look, Sennheiser does not make any radical changes with Momentum True Wireless 3s. They still lack Bluetooth multipoint, for example. It seems that the company is confident that they will be liked in the same market as the previous models in the series: people who give priority to sound quality above all.

Sennheiser recently introduced Sport True Wireless earrings for $ 199.95 to compete with those of the Beats Fit Pros. The unique aspect of Sport buds is that Sennheiser includes both open and closed earplugs, allowing owners to switch between the two depending on the activity and how aware they need to be of their surroundings. Open adapters will reduce the intensity of body noise such as breathing and footsteps, while closed nozzles will provide you with more insulation. Sport True Wireless also adds dust resistance to the equation, with an IP54 rating.
