Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday to create a police force dedicated to fighting voter fraud and other election crimes.
The new law, SB 524, establishes the “Electoral Crime and Security Service” to investigate allegations of voter fraud. It increases the penalty for collecting ballots from a first-degree crime to a third-degree crime punishable by up to five years in prison.
