The former host of Good Morning Britain also successfully beat Andrew Neill’s inaugural show on GB News on June 13, which garnered a peak of 336,000 viewers.
However, the rest of TalkTV’s list failed to reach its competitors on the night of the launch.
The news agency with Tom Newton-Dunn had an average audience of 54,200 in the 19:00 slot, compared to GB News, hosted by Nigel Farage, which provided 71,500.
BBC News and Sky News also provided 136,600 and 133,200 per hour, respectively.
The interview with Sharon Osborne also lags behind TalkTV’s main rivals. The show reached an average audience of 43,900 between 21:00 and 22:00, compared to 62,700 on GB News, 113,900 on BBC News and 56,700 on Sky News.
Mr Morgan’s performance provides a solid foundation for Rupert Murdoch’s rebel channel to build on, as it seeks to disrupt the BBC with its brand of suspicious American-style news.
His comments also laid the groundwork for a fierce rivalry with GB News, the startup that is trying to disrupt British broadcasting with its unique brand of news aimed at public opinion.
In a tweet, Mr Morgan referred to Mr Farage’s attempts to thwart TalkTV’s interview with the former US president by giving him a dossier with critical comments made by the former News of the World editor.
