Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs diagnosed with tonsil cancer Oasis

Paul Arthurs, the Oasis rhythm guitarist known as Bonehead, has been diagnosed with tonsillitis.

He wrote on Twitter: “Just to let you know that I will take a break from the game for a while. I was diagnosed with tonsillitis. But the good news is that it is treatable and I will start a course of treatment soon. I’ll keep you posted on how things are going. “

He was scheduled to play with Liam Gallagher at major concerts in Manchester and Kneburt this summer. Gallagher tweets: “Sending GREAT love to the only Bonehead and his family with a wish for a speedy recovery, we all think of you, Rasta, you will return to the stage before you can say we are [the Oasis song] Colombia. ”

Arthurs, 56, co-founded Oasis with Gallagher, originally calling himself Rain; they soon recruited Gallagher Noel’s brother and changed the band’s name. Arthurs recorded three albums with the band, including the defining era Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Before leaving in 1999 during the recording of his fourth album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

He later joined Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye from 2013 to 2014 and often played live with Liam during the latter’s solo career, most recently at the Reading and Leeds festivals in 2021. He also formed the band Parlor Flames and worked as a radio DJ during his career after Oasis.
