Authorities identify murder victim and suspect in the arrest of northwestern Fresno in Nevada

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – Authorities have arrested a suspect accused of shooting a man to death in an apartment complex in northwestern Fresno on Monday morning.

Fresno police say detectives followed 23-year-old Anthony Tashchian to a motel in Las Vegas on Monday night. He was then arrested by members of the Las Vegas Subway Police Department.

Investigators say Tashchian shot and killed 37-year-old Stepan Hambartsumyan at the Palm Mission Estates on Palm Avenue near Escalon Avenue.

Hambartsumyan was visiting the tenant in the apartment when Tashchian and two other people showed up.

Officials say Hambartsumyan and Tashchian quarreled before Tashchian shot the victim.

Hambartsumyan died on the spot.

Tashchian is currently in the Clark County Jail in Nevada, on a charge of murder.

Detectives are trying to find other witnesses to help them with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department.
