ver 100 firefighters were called to blaze in south-east London, confirmed the fire department.
Twenty fire trucks and 120 firefighters battled the fire on the roof of an apartment building on Creek Road, Deptford, on Tuesday afternoon.
The London Fire Brigade said they were called at 13.03, while videos show large streams of smoke coming out of the building at 16.15.
At 10.30 pm, a spokesman for the brigade told Standard that there were still six fire engines and 30 firefighters at the scene. Firefighters are expected to be on site throughout the night and morning, the spokesman said.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and no casualties have been reported.

Approximately 13 people evacuated the building before the fire brigade arrived to put out the fire.
Station Commander Ian Smith, who is at the scene, said Tuesday afternoon: “This is an intense fire located on the roof of the building and fire crews are working hard in difficult conditions.
“We have increased the number of fire trucks due to the need for more firefighters with breathing apparatus.
“There is a lot of smoke from the incident and we would ask the locals to close their doors and windows.”
In a tweet shortly after 6 pm, the brigade said it was still dealing with the fire, which it described as “complex and challenging”.
“Please close your doors and windows if you live in the local area,” he added.
A resident of the building, Michael Rudling, told Standard that he was greeted with “thick black smoke” when he returned from work to see the extent of the fire.
While his own apartment remained on the second floor, he said officials had informed him that the top floor had been damaged by the fire.
He added: “People were relatively calm, but it was a typical London annoyance. People didn’t realize that firefighters were working hard and had to work hard to keep the cordons in place. “
