Vladimir Putin has promised to use nuclear weapons against countries that are obstructing his war in Ukraine in his latest chilling warning to the West.

The dictator said his response to anyone who “threatened” Russia would be “lightning fast” and deadly.

He told politicians in St. Petersburg: “If someone intends to intervene in what is happening outside, he must know that this is an unacceptable strategic threat to Russia.

“We have all the weapons we need for this. No one else can boast of these weapons, and we will not boast of them. But we will use them.

Although Putin did not directly mention nuclear weapons, he was probably referring to Russia’s new Sarmat 2 nuclear missile, which was tested for the first time only days ago.

The weapon is said to be capable of destroying an area twice the size of Britain.

The warning comes after a new video with uncontrollable trembling of Putin’s hand sparked new speculation about his ill health.

Today is not the first time the despot has made nuclear threats to the west of Ukraine, but they have become more frequent in recent weeks.

Earlier today, Kremlin propagandist Vladimir Solovyov directly threatened the United Kingdom with nuclear weapons, saying “one Sarmat missile means minus one Britain.”

On Monday, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that Russia was now waging a proxy war with the whole of NATO and that the risk of it becoming nuclear was “real”.

Lavrov said current relations in Europe are worse than during the Cuban Missile Crisis crisis.

Asked directly about the possibility of a nuclear war, he said: “The risks are very significant. I do not want the danger to increase artificially [but] it’s serious, real. It cannot be underestimated.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova then threatened to strike at NATO arms suppliers to Ukraine – with the UK among those in charge of supplies.

However, Ukraine downplayed the threat and accused Russia of trying to scare the world into helping it repel the Kremlin’s progress.

On Monday, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba wrote on Twitter: “Russia is losing all hope of scaring the world not to support Ukraine.

“This speaks of the ‘real’ danger of World War II.

“It simply means that Moscow is feeling the defeat in Ukraine. That is why the world must redouble its support for Ukraine so that we can prevail and defend European and global security. ”

Boris Johnson also said yesterday that he did not believe Putin would carry out his threats.

Asked if he expects Putin to consider using tactical nuclear weapons if he suffers more military failures in Ukraine, he said: “No, I don’t.

“Given Russia’s overwhelming support for what he is doing, given Russia’s apparent ignorance of what is really going on in Ukraine, the paradox is that Putin has much more political space to back down. “
