A man has been charged with the murder of Katie Kenyon, who has been missing since last Friday.
Lancashire police have confirmed that 50-year-old Andrew Burfield of Burnley has already been indicted and will appear in Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The 33-year-old mother of two from the Padiham in Burnley has been declared missing after she was last seen around 9:30 a.m. Friday.
A woman matching Ms. Kenyon’s description left for Burnley that morning, traveling about 27 miles in a silver Ford Transit van to the Bolton-by-Bowland area of northern Lancashire.
More than 60 detectives from four police forces searched Gisborne Forest in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire in search of Ms. Kenyon.
The hunt involved police and firefighters, dog teams, horse police, mountain rescue volunteers and drones.
On Tuesday, investigators said they believed Ms. Kenyon was dead.
Her family says her disappearance is not typical.
As the search continued, her sister Sarah Kenyon wrote on Facebook: “Now it’s a waiting game, we did our best, we searched everywhere, we connected with everyone.”
According to the indictment, Lancashire police said: “Katie’s family has been informed and continues to be supported by specially trained staff. They express their gratitude for all the benevolent messages, but have asked people to respect their privacy now. “
