The host of a travel TV series was robbed and attacked Monday night while riding a train line in Chicago as the city’s transit system continues to see a stream of violent incidents in recent weeks.
Will Klinger was on the Red Line of the Chicago Transit Authority around 8:30 p.m. when he sat in an almost empty car while heading to meet a friend, he told the Chicago Tribune. He said he was on his phone when a woman grabbed the device as the train stopped at Addison Street Station near Wrigley Field and ran through the door.
“It was a complete surprise when I suddenly found someone grabbing my phone from my hands and running out of the car,” Klinger told the newspaper. “I probably accidentally threw myself through the door after them, chasing myself to try to get my phone back. And the last thing I remember is falling and I don’t even remember landing.”

He said that for the last time he remembered that he was surrounded by medical staff in the emergency department. The fall caused some bleeding in his brain, contusion, four stitches on his forehead and a swollen arm.
“So the lesson is, I guess, A: Don’t leave your phone outside on the night of L and B: If your phone is stolen, don’t chase the people who stole it because I paid a pretty high price,” he said.
Fox News Digital has contacted the 64-year-old Klinger, who hosts PBS’s Wild Travels, which celebrates America’s awkward roads. Previously, it hosted “Wild Chicago”, which was the same prerequisite for the third most populous city in America for 11 years.
Fox News Digital also contacted the Chicago Police Department, as well as the CTA.
The attack on Klinger was the second in a 24-hour period at a pair of Red Line stations. The other led to a stabbing man during an armed robbery.

“It’s obviously scary at CTA right now,” Klinger told WBBM-TV.
