Villarreal defender Alberto Moreno has sent a message to his former Liverpool team after the two teams met in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Liverpool overcame the Spanish side with 2: 0 at Anfield , with the kind assistance of Pervis Estupinan’s own goal and quick reaction from Sadio Mane. This means that the Reds are in a relatively comfortable position before the rematch next week at El Madrigal.
Unai Emery’s team focused on the clash with Liverpool as outsiders, although the Yellow Submarine eliminated Juventus and Bayern Munich before facing the Reds. Despite the result, Moreno sent a heartfelt message to Liverpool fans upon his return to Merseyside.

His post was accompanied by photos in which he was greeted by his old teammates Alison Becker and Virgil van Dyke. The Spanish national often speaks passionately about his five-year period with the Reds and is even more liked by his supporters after his message to Liverpool fans after Villarreal’s victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final last season.
Moreno has made 141 appearances in all competitions for the club and was part of the team that won the Champions League in 2019. And the defender was aware of the challenge that his current team will face before their trip to Anfield.
“If you want to win against these teams, you have to suffer. said Moreno . “You will not beat one of these teams face to face, it is impossible.
“You have to suffer and we know how to suffer. And Villarreal has the virtue that we all know how to suffer together as a team, but we also know how to play football, because this team has players of great quality.
“That explains the way we do it. Because when we have to suffer against big teams, we suffer. And we know how to do that. And then with the ball, the big teams suffer against us. They know that.”
