The Nottinghamshire Council confirms when a rebate of £ 150 will be paid

Some Nottinghamshire residents are still awaiting a £ 150 municipal tax rebate. Councils, including Nottingham City Council, Mansfield County Council and Brautou City Council, have already confirmed this month that payments are being made.

Now the councils, which are about to start making payments, have offered residents a time frame in which they can expect to receive their money. Rushcliffe City Council has confirmed that it will start paying the £ 150 municipal tax rebate tomorrow (Friday, April 29).

The council said most residents who pay their municipal tax by direct debit will receive the £ 150 discount from the central government directly into their bank account. Letters will be sent to residents confirming that the payment has been made, but no further action is required.

The government states in its official guide: “All subsidies for tax rebates to the Council must be paid as soon as possible from April.” The municipal tax rebate is paid to households whose home was in taxes A to D in England on April 1.

This comes amid warnings from consumer experts of “civil unrest” as the cost of living crisis rages. The Bassetlow District Council has also not yet started making payments, but has confirmed that it will start doing so in early May.

David Hill, director of corporate resources, said: “Payments will be made to Bassetlaw residents in early May, and if you are already paying by direct debit, the process should be quick and clear. For residents who pay in other ways, or in situations where the payment terms and the people registered at the addresses do not match or the circumstances may be a little more complicated, we will process them as soon as possible.

“I would like to thank the residents for their patience, and as we will be paying more than £ 7 million in concessions to the people of Bassetlaw, there are also a number of checks and inspections that we need to do to prevent fraud or payment errors. “

Other Nottinghamshire councils have confirmed that they have started making payments, mainly to people who pay by direct debit. Councilor David Martin, a member of the finance cabinet in the Ashfield District Council, said: “We are pleased that the first 25,600 municipal tax rebates for those living in properties on lanes A-D have already been paid.

“The Council is working hard to ensure that we are able to pay this discount as soon as possible. We would like to thank the residents for their patience. We hope to have made most of the payments by the end of May, and we are currently contacting all non-direct debit residents to arrange the payment.

The deadline for the central government to administer the payments is the end of September.
