Klopp signed a new contract with Liverpool until 2026

The story of Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will continue after the German signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at Anfield until 2026.

Earlier, Klopp hinted at a potential departure from Liverpool at the end of his current contract, which was due to expire in 2024. But in a change of heart, with his wife Ula playing a key role, he dedicated his future to Liverpool once again.

The Liverpool team is potentially the best it has ever been, but after Klopp signs a new contract, he will have the chance to sign young players to improve his team and develop it for the future. With people like Jude Bellingham and Aurelian Chuameni on the radar, Mirror football see what Klopp’s Liverpool team might look like in the near future.

There are not many improvements in Klopp’s current squad, and the back line will remain relatively unchanged in the coming years. Goalkeeper Alison is only 29 years old and has many years ahead of him, as well as the pair of Liverpool from fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

Ibrahima Konate has already signed for the future and the 22-year-old now looks very capable at the highest level, but Klopp may be considering another addition to the end of his contract. They are currently in their heyday, but Virgil van Dyke and Joel Matip are 30 and will begin to lose some momentum by 2026.

The Liverpool midfielder is expected to attract the most attention, even with Tiago in the form of his life, and captain Jordan Henderson has once again proved his worth in the Champions League against Villarreal. Fabinho is the untouchable striker in the middle of the park, but Tiago and Henderson are the wrong side of the 30’s.

Liverpool continue to connect with both Bellingham and Chuameni and the pair could lift Klopp’s midfield later. They will also replace Giorginio Vinaldum, who left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Instead, Klopp gave higher roles to Nabi Kate, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, but it is likely that one of their goals in midfield will be pursued, if not both. And they are already expecting an arrival in the summer, as Fabio Carvalho seems ready to sign with Fulham at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old can play either in the wide range or in the midfield, as Klopp seeks to increase his chances again. But Carvalho is believed to have been targeted as a reserve for Mohamed Salah, who may or may not leave.

However, as part of Klopp’s new deal, you would expect the FSG to have something up their sleeve to re-sign both Sadio Mane and Salah, who still have a lot to give at Liverpool’s front line. As in January with the signing of Luis Diaz, who has been outstanding since arriving from Porto.

Diaz is the latest addition to a possible replacement in the top three, as the iconic trio of Roberto Firmino, Manet and Salah will slowly be lost to Diaz, Diogo Jota and potentially Carvalho as everyone gets older. For now, however, Klopp is blessed with a range of attacking talents and it is no coincidence that they are still in every race due to their rotation.
