According to Bild, scenes of violence occurred in the first semi-final match at the stadium in London in the 21st minute, after the fans jumped behind Brockmeier and Hofmeister.

Speaking live on the air, the newspaper quoted Hoffmeister as saying: “We are being attacked here. They dropped the headphones on my colleague Tim.

“We need to get a little better. We need to see that we can get a few security guards here.”

West Ham have promised to take action after launching an investigation into the attack on Hessischer Rundfunk employees.

A spokesman for the club confirmed that those found guilty would be banned for life.

And now they have announced that the violators have been identified and the police are already working on the issue.

A West Ham spokesman said: “West Ham United can confirm that two violators have been identified.

“Apart from continuing our own investigation, in line with our approach to zero tolerance, the details of the perpetrators have also been handed over to the police, who will now conduct their own investigation.

Both Brockmeier and Hofmeister had to be moved to another position at half-time, with the latter describing his fear in a comment.

He noted: “You always have the feeling that something can come from behind, a blow to something.

“My dreams of English football have been shattered.”

Hofmeister later took to Twitter, where he said he and Brockmeier were recovering.

His post read: “We are doing well. Best wishes to all West Ham fans who love football and respect their opponents.”
