War in Ukraine: Wounded Briton captured by Russian forces and paraded on television | World news

The wounded Briton, dressed in military clothes, was captured by Russian forces in Ukraine and paraded on television.

Named after Andrew Hill, he was photographed with his left arm bandaged and a makeshift bandage around his head.

Sky News understands that he is 35 years old.

He was photographed while being questioned, saying he had traveled to Ukraine of his own accord to help the country, Reuters reported.

Mr Hill signaled contact with the International Legion, a unit set up by the Ukrainian government for foreigners who want to fight in support of military efforts.

Asked by his inquirers about his rank, the Briton said: “I have no rank … I just know that the Foreign Legion said I could help.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that he had surrendered to Russian troops in the Nikolaev region of southwestern Ukraine.

This is the same region where a second Briton, 36-year-old Scott Sibley, a former soldier, was killed a few days ago.

During the filming, Mr. Hill said he was from Plymouth and had four children and a partner.

Russian soldiers took his passport, he added.

Two other Britons have also been detained by Russian forces in Ukraine.

Aiden Aslin, 28, and Sean Piner, 48, were captured earlier this month while defending the southeastern city of Mariupol.

On Thursday, it was revealed that a veteran of the British army was killed after it was believed that he had traveled to Ukraine to fight.

It is not clear what day Scott Sibley, 36, was killed, but it is believed to have been a few days ago in southern or eastern Ukraine.

Mr Sibley’s family was informed of the situation and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, two British aid workers were reportedly captured by Russian forces.

The British non-profit organization Presidium Network said Paul Yuri, 45, and Dylan Healy, 22, were arrested on Monday.

They are believed to have been captured at a checkpoint south of the city of Zaporozhye in southeastern Ukraine.
