DIY SOS star Dylan Myers dies after a lifelong battle with stunted growth syndrome

DIY SOS star Dylan Myers died Friday after a lifelong battle with stunted growth syndrome.

The 11-year-old boy, who appeared in an episode of the BBC series with his family, is struggling with Peter Pan’s condition, which has slowed his growth and left him with a baby’s mind and body for the rest of his life.

His parents, Daniel and Richard Myers, shared a heartfelt tribute to him, announcing his death via their Facebook page about him called Dylan’s Story.

In the heartbreaking post, they said they were “broken forever, but always together.”

The family, who are from Ongar, Essex, used the site to provide updates on Dylan’s condition, as he suffers from many health consequences due to the syndrome.

In the post, they shared: “With the heaviest broken hearts, we announce that our beautiful brave heroic little Dylan took his last breath into our hands at 2:10 p.m. this afternoon.”

“He fought so hard to the bitter end, but physically he could not fight anymore.

“It was Dylan’s story, and he wrote every page and enjoyed every minute of his very short life. His incredible smile and giggle will live in our hearts forever ️ ️ but unfortunately this story was coming to an end.

“Sleep well, baby boy. Until we meet again. Broken forever, but always together “

The miracle: Dylan was called a “baby miracle” after doctors predicted he would not live to be 12 months old

Dylan’s condition was extremely rare and unidentified, causing him to experience constant pain all the time while undergoing treatment for a list of health complications.

These include organs that are mirrored on the opposite side of his body, daily bouts of apnea (respiratory arrest), seizures, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and suppression of his immune system.

When Dylan was eight, he weighed only 12 kg, was 89 cm tall and fit into the clothes of a 12-month-old baby – he grew only 1 mm per year.

His parents often had to resuscitate him when he was “dying in their arms” due to apnea attacks in which he did not breathe for 30 seconds.

Dylan was dubbed the “miracle baby” after doctors predicted he would not live to be 12 months old.

As early as 2016, DIY SOS filmed at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Dylan regularly visits for treatment with his mother Daniel, who is conducting a campaign to raise awareness of undiagnosed conditions.

The show joined forces with the Chelsea Flower Show to transport an entire garden from the show to the Children’s Hospital – lifting it over buildings and rebuilding it on the roof of the hospital.

So sad: the post included a cute picture of Dylan holding his parents’ hands

Dylan was chosen to take part in the show with two other children – but at the time, Daniel said he “didn’t know” she was on TV, explaining that it was about her memories.

Dylan’s Story page last week shared updates on his condition, noting that his health was deteriorating.

He said he was “really fighting” and revealed that the hospital had encouraged him to help his lungs.

The family has set up a fund for sick and disabled children and has raised £ 36,775 so far.
