A forest fire in the hills near Kyle from Lohalsh has been put out

The SFRS said: “There are no casualties and firefighters are no longer on the scene.”

Owners of nearby properties have praised the actions of firefighters and the helicopter crew.

NTS reported that the flames have approached some properties.

Ian Turnbull, property manager at Balmacara Estate, said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has done an outstanding job of controlling and ultimately putting out the fire.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Skyhook Helicopters for their role in fighting the fire, as well as to local volunteers and community members who cared for firefighters during the incident by providing them with food and refreshments.

He said the cause of the fire was still unknown.

The wildfire was one of many in northern and western Scotland and came during a period of increased fire risk due to dry weather and large areas of dead and withered vegetation.
