Huawei Mate Xs 2 comes with a beautifully sophisticated folding design

Huawei may not work, but it hasn’t come out. The company has just released its latest foldable phone, the Huawei Mate Xs 2, and it is an absolute beauty.

Unlike Samsung’s best foldable phones, Huawei chooses a foldable outdoor design so the screens are always on display. However, this also means that there are fewer displays in general, and that of the Mate Xs 2 sounds pretty great. When closed, this is a 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED display that opens to a 7.8-inch panel with a sharp resolution of 2480 × 2200.

Huawei also says that its improved hinge mechanism offers improved durability and will not leave a visible crease, although this is something we have heard many times before.

On the back there is a 50MP triple camera that includes 13MP wide angle and 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. There is a 10MP camera on the front.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with a 4G modem. Given Huawei’s relationship with the United States, the company is still unable to acquire 5G modems from Qualcomm, so it is doing what it can. However, the Snapdragon 888 is only one generation behind the current batch of flagships, so performance must continue.

The phone works with HarmonyOS 2 and, of course, there is no integration with Google.

The phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 256 / 512GB of memory or a 12GB / 512GB configuration. Depending on the RAM, the battery capacity is 4600mAh or 4880mAh, respectively. The device supports 66W fast charging, so theoretically it should last longer and charge faster than Galaxy Z Fold 3. And just like Z Fold 3, it supports the introduction of a pen with Huawei’s M-Pen 2s.

Overall, this sounds like a nice upgrade over the Huawei Mate Xs.

The Mate Xs 2 is available for purchase in China so far and starts at ¥ 9999 or approximately just over $ 1500. It is unclear whether it will be available outside China.
