A mother who searched for “I want to give up my child” on the Internet has been thrown in jail for causing the death of her baby | United Kingdom news

A mother who conducted a series of online searches, including “I Want to Give Up My Child,” was jailed for causing her daughter’s death while keeping her in “unpleasant” conditions.

Eleven-month-old Nafahat died of a chest infection after weeks of neglect by Fortune Jamal at his Kingfisher Way apartment in Brent Park, London.

A Harrow Crown court heard that the 25-year-old woman knew that Nafahat was not well with “very high fever” and poor appetite, but failed to take her to a doctor.

Visitors in the weeks before the baby’s death said her crib was broken and the apartment was littered with boxes for the home, dirty dishes and diapers.

The social services were visited on February 22 after a signal from a babysitter.

They warned Jamal before their visit, and when they arrived, the apartment was clean and the situation improved.

The second unannounced visit was scheduled for March 13, the day Nafahat died.

Paramedics were called by a neighbor, and when they arrived, Jamal told them that she had found her daughter’s body after dreaming that the baby had “stopped breathing.”

Jamal was charged with one charge of causing Nafahat’s death through negligence, two counts of child abuse against Nafahat and a third charge of child abuse against another child.

On March 4, a jury found her guilty on all four charges.

Jamal, who was released on bail before sentencing, was sentenced to five years and six months.

Senior Investigator, Chief Inspector Madeleine Ryder, said: “Baby Nafahat was only 11 months old when he died in miserable conditions, surrounded by walls covered in feces.

“She died of an illness that was very treatable if Jamal had bothered to seek medical help.

“There is not a long enough sentence to justify taking the life of a baby, but I am pleased with the outcome of today’s sentence.
