A fire extinguisher remained at the scene of the fire overnight after a large fire in a village in Cornwall. At around 5.45pm yesterday (April 29th), the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service received a report of a fire in a two-story apartment building in St. Kevern.
The property fire saw seven stations work tirelessly to deal with the fire. A statement from the CFRS website said the incident had already been reduced. One Hale appliance stayed on all night to keep an eye out for additional hotspots.
It has been confirmed that an investigation into the incident will be carried out this morning.

What happened in the fire?
Crews from St. Kevern, Mulion, Helston, Falmouth, Truro, along with two water carriers from Helston, Wadebridge and the St. Just Incident Management Division were mobilized for the incident, and crews began work to extinguish the fire immediately. After the first call, the crews reported a large cloud of smoke seen on the way to the premises and asked for additional help.
Upon arrival at the property, which was already well lit, firefighters began extinguishing the fire with four respirators and two hose reel jets. After half an hour of extinguishing the fire, the fire was divided into two sectors and the crews used a water shuttle, as the water supply was limited.
Electrical engineers were called to the scene and after two and a half hours the teams managed to reduce the fire. It has been confirmed that an investigation will follow.
Speaking yesterday, a Cornwall Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “The first call was received at 5:45 p.m., crews reported a large cloud of smoke on the way to the room and immediately asked for ‘Make Pumps Three and Watercarrier One.’ The first crew at the scene dealt with the fire with the help of a quick deployment and a jet for a hose reel.
“At 18:10 the crews had four breathing apparatus in stage 1 and two jets for hose reels. At 18:13 an order was made for “Make Pumps 5”. Electrical engineers were asked to attend the property. two-storey residential building measuring 10 x 20 m. The property is completely covered by fire.
“At 18:18 the crews used 4 breathing apparatus on stage 1, 2 hoses and two main jets. The fire is divided into two fire-fighting sectors and a water shuttle is used, as on-site water supply is limited.
“Fire crews remain on the scene, but are now fighting the fire from a defensive position. 20:19 This incident is now starting to be reduced to three main appliances and one water carrier. A fire investigation will be carried out in the morning.”
