The UK coastline has risen in popularity during the pandemic, as travel restrictions have forced people to choose to stay instead of holidays abroad.

Rory Boland, editor of Who? Travel said: “The British coast has not prospered in this way since the 1960s.

“Vacationers have had such a fantastic time in their caravans, tents and beach huts over the past two years that a coastal holiday on their home shores is on the map for many, even with restrictions on travel abroad.

“Prices for stays in the UK have increased, but you don’t have to pay more than the odds. For a budget-limited holiday, it’s best to aim for off-season travel.”

The five best seaside resorts in the UK:

2. Landidno, Conway 86%

3. St. Andrews, Fife 84%

4. Dartmouth, Devon 83%
