A Queen’s University student who died after falling ill after a severe allergic reaction is being honored.
Uba (Jakub) Bednarz, a native of Poland, died earlier this week.
The 21-year-old has been fighting for his life at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast since March 25.
He received a cardiac arrest associated with a severe allergic reaction.
His previous school described him as a “diligent, determined and conscientious” student.
Jacob had lived in Northern Ireland since he was two years old.
He grew up in Ohm, Ko Tyrone, where he attended Christ the King Elementary School and the Christian Brothers High School (CBS).

In the last few weeks, the young man’s friends have helped raise more than £ 27,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to pay for specialist treatment in Poland.
However, Jakub unfortunately lost his battle for life on Wednesday.
His funeral will be Sunday.
His mother, Beata Vilevska-Bednarz, posted on social media: “With great grief and sorrow, we must announce that our son’s life machine was pulled out (Wednesday) and Jakub died.
His school, Omagh CBS, also paid tribute.
It read: “It is with great sadness that we learn today of the death of Jakub Bednarz.
“Jacob was a much-loved and respected student at Christian Brothers High School between September 2012 and June 2019, when he left to study music and audio production at Queen’s University in Belfast.
“He was a diligent, determined and conscientious student with an infectious and captivating warmth that made him extremely popular with both his peers and employees. He was sincere, good-natured, and always generous with his time, volunteering at many school events during those seven years.
“As a school community, we pray for the peace of Jacob’s soul and express our deepest condolences to Jacob’s family at this very difficult time.
“His gentle and unpretentious nature will ensure that he will always be remembered with great love and affection by all of us who knew him.
Jacob’s funeral will take place at Christ the King Church, Stratroy, Ko Tyrone, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
