Bear spray used in robbery

A man robbed the Circle K store on Springfield Road overnight, using bear spray.
Just after midnight, police said a man entered the Circle K store connected to Shell’s gas station on Springfield and Benvulin roads and deployed what was thought to be a bear spray.
The employee of the store and the client, who was inside, were slightly injured and received medical treatment.
Kelowna’s RCMP staff were present at the scene, but the suspect fled with “undisclosed quantities of goods from the store”, according to Const. Solana Pare.
Employees remained on site at the store until Saturday morning, gathering evidence and looking for CCTV footage in the area.
Police described the suspect as a 6-foot, 2-Caucasian man with a lean physique and short brown hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a light gray plaid shirt with buttons, jeans, black shoes, and a black bag.
Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact Kelowna’s RCMP at 250-762-3300.

Police are investigating an incident at the Shell gas station on Springfield and Benvulin roads on Saturday morning.
A police tape could be seen around the gas station pumps, closing the store entrance.
An RCMP employee at the scene declined to talk about what happened at the gas station. Castanet contacted the Kelowna RCMP media contact for more information.
