Suburbs face repeated tornado warnings on Saturday afternoon

CHICAGO – Suburbs of Chicago, including Mawoodwood, Belvedere, Harvard, Elmhurst and Melrose Park, faced tornado warnings on Saturday as severe storms tore through the area.

As of Saturday night, there were no significant reports of damage from radar tornadoes.

The Tornado Watch has been released for several counties in the Chicago area, including DeKalb, DuPage, Will, Kane, Kankakee and McHenry counties.

The National Weather Service released the clock at 1:45 p.m. for DeKalb, DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle and McHenry counties. The clock is in effect until 8 pm on Saturday night.

Strong storms and bad weather will continue to be possible for the Chicago area throughout the day.

Severe weather threats include strong winds, heavy rainfall with brief flash floods and tornadoes.

As for the weather, FOX 32 meteorologist Mark Strehl says the storms should hit I-39 shortly after 2 p.m., and then invade the Chicago area between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.

At noon, a solar window is possible, which has the potential to provide even more energy to the system.

In this case, the clouds are good and can prevent the development of the most severe storms.
