The Chicago Bears scouts undoubtedly have their personal favorites every year during the draft. Still, they had to watch many of those prospects go to other teams for most of the Ryan Pace era because there weren’t enough selectmen to get them. A by-product of Pace’s ultra-aggressive approach. It was a life they were used to. So they couldn’t imagine what would happen when Ryan Pauls took over.
After three selections on the second day of the 2nd and 3rd rounds, Chicago held three more between the 5th and 6th rounds on Day 3. Just hours before the action, the Poles gathered the team scouts at Halas Hall and gave them simple directive. Make a list of three players for whom they had an absolute sentence. Guys, they really wanted the bears to land before the project was over. Then the Poles played a crazy day of maneuvering, going from three elections at the beginning to eight elections at the end.

Chicago started with five draft picks in 2022, when the Poles took office. By the time he finished, he had increased that number to 11. Although it’s unclear how many of them will be good in the NFL, he managed to let his scouts go crazy for once. If they had boys who were thirsty, he did what he could to land them.

Although Justin Fields may not have received help from the two best choices the bears had, Ryan Pauls did not ignore his young quarterback. Chicago has selected six offensive players, including broadcaster Velus Jones Jr., four promising blockers and an athletic quarterback at Trestan Ebner. If two of these players turn out to be good, the bears will have taken a significant step in the right direction.
