Mounties is investigating after a 20-year-old woman was hit and killed by a collided and fleeing pedestrian in Canmore on Sunday morning.

The Canmore RCMP has released little details about the incident, but traffic reports show police responded to the location of the Trans-Canadian highway west of Canmore near the Visitor Information Center before 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

The RCMP diverted traffic on the east lane of Highway 1 from the Bow Valley Trail Information Center while officers continued to investigate. According to 511 Alberta, there is no expected time to open the road.
