Kathy Budin, a member of the radical extremist group Weather Underground and a participant in a 1981 robbery that killed two police officers and a security guard, died of cancer on Sunday.
Budin, 78, spent decades in prison for driving a fugitive from a robbery in October 1981, in which members of her group joined forces with the Black Liberation Army to rob an armored truck carrying money.

The extremists first stopped Brink’s armored truck, killing security guard Peter Page. They then left with about $ 1.6 million in cash and transferred to the nearby U-Haul, where Budin was waiting for him.
Soon, however, she came across a police blockade. As she stopped the car and surrendered immediately, her accomplices opened fire, killing two police officers, Edward O’Grady and Waverly Brown.

Buden served 22 years in prison for robbery and was released on parole in 2003.
Buden last made waves when Columbia University announced that he had accepted her as an adjunct professor at the University School of Social Work in 2008. He then hired her as a full professor in 2013, according to the New York Post.
