Ontario COVID: No new deaths since early April

Ontario health officials have not reported any new deaths from COVID-19 for the first time since early April.

The number of deaths due to the new coronavirus in Ontario remained the same on Monday, with a total of 12,842 deaths.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 1,423 people in hospital with COVID-19, including 211 people in intensive care.

The number of COVID-19-related hospitalizations increased slightly from the previous day, although data released on Monday were likely underestimated, as not all hospitals provided data to the ministry over the weekend.

With just over 11,800 tests for COVID-19 processed in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says the percentage of positive results in the province is about 14 percent.

An additional 1,275 laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease were reported on Monday, although that number remains underestimated due to a lack of PCR testing.

Wastewater data published by the Ontario COVID-19 Scientific Advisory Table appear to indicate the concentration of the new coronavirus crest in most regions.

“Sometimes it’s a little bit up, sometimes it’s a little bit down, sometimes it’s on a plateau and, of course, it’s a huge province, so it’s different in different parts of the province,” UHN Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr. Isaac Bogoch told CP24. on Monday.
