A man who was executed in broad daylight on the Upper West Side over the weekend was a Virginia resident in the city visiting his cousin, cops said Monday.
The victim, Ronald Thomas, 27, was sitting in a white Mercedes Benz GLA 250 and arguing with a woman just before an armed man got into another vehicle around 12:15 a.m. Sunday and fatally shot him in the head, cops said. .
The shooting took place near the houses of Frederick Douglas on 102 West Street on Amsterdam Avenue – about a block from the building of the 24th section of the NYPD.

The motive for the killing is unclear, but the victim appears to have been targeted, a police source said.
“They all knew each other,” a police source said.
Photos from the scene show that the victim was sitting in his jeep with a sheet on his body and an upset woman nearby.

The violence comes amid NYPD’s announcement that more cops will be on duty at night to help stop the shootings before the summer months.
