A 22-year-old man wanted in connection with the so-called “theft of millions of dollars” in an ATM refill business was detained by police just days after he was included in the list of the 25 most wanted fugitives in Canada.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Rawson, was wanted across Canada for a robbery of a business on April 1, 2021, near Dixon Road and Carlingview Drive.
Police said earlier that two suspects collided with a non-business employee with a gun shortly before 9 a.m. and forced the man to take them past a locked door to a room full of money. They then allegedly attacked another employee and stuffed approximately $ 1 million into a large garbage bag before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.
About $ 160,000 of the stolen money was later found at the site of a failed home invasion that police said was directed to an address linked to one of the robbery suspects.
Then in September, police announced the arrest of one of the robbery suspects, as well as two alleged drivers who had fled.
However, Rawson remained unsettled despite his arrest warrant throughout Canada.
On April 26, the national program BOLO included him in its first list of the most wanted fugitives in Canada at number 23, offering a reward of up to $ 50,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Three days later, on April 29, Rawson was arrested by Toronto police.
He is the second person on the list to be arrested since its publication.
The first suspect in the murder, Abilaziz Mohammed, was in fact arrested just hours after the list was released after police said they had received an anonymous report.
Rawson has been charged with seven counts, including robbery with a firearm and possession of property acquired through a crime. .
