Amazon.com workers voted against uniting at a Staten Island facility in New York, a victory for the company after losing another warehouse in the neighborhood last month.
The National Labor Relations Council said 62% of workers who ran valid newsletters from a site called LDJ5 voted not to form a union. The number is 618 against 380 against unionization, the NLRB said. Monday’s results shocked organizers who hoped to build on their success in the April election, where workers at a warehouse called JFK8, Amazon’s largest on Staten Island, voted to create the first US alliance in the e-commerce giant.
