Canadian danger! Super-champion Matea Roach won the fifth longest series in the history of the television quiz show with her victory in Monday night’s episode.
The 23-year-old Toronto-based professor has equaled Julia Collins, whose term in 2014 lasted 20 games.
This is the longest series of all Canadians appearing on the show.
Roach also brought in the sixth largest draw for any athlete in the regular season, earning $ 476,985 US so far.
To climb to No. 4 on the list, Roach must correspond to a series of 32 games by James Holzhauer.
Roach said he was honored to carry the Canadian flag on what is now known as the Alex Trebek stage.
“It will always be part of the way I am remembered – like this representative of Canada and the best Canadian who continues,” she said in an interview with The Canadian Press before her 13th match. “I hope one day he wins even more than me.”
Long way to place №1
This was a great season for Jeopardy! stripes, starting with Matt Amodio.
After amassing 18 wins in Season 37, he continued his series at the start of Season 38. His run continued with 20 more wins, which put him – at the time – in No. 2.
He will be removed just months later by Amy Schneider, who won 40 games.
She is second only to current host Ken Jennings, who won 74 consecutive games in 2004 and won $ 2,520,700 in the United States, not counting his tournament winnings.
The record books for the regular season of the show do not go much further than that. While the danger! first aired in 1964, until 2003 there was a five-game winning limit.
But Brad Rutter, who won all five authorized games in 2000, returned for tournaments in the following years and now has the biggest draw of all time – $ 4,938,436.
Included tournaments, Jennings won $ 4,370,700.
