Carson Goodigell’s assassination was a “blow” by four men who beat the victim before stabbing her to death, the prosecutor said on Day 1 of the first-degree murder trial of the accused killers.
Carson Goodigle, 33, was found “alive but bleeding,” prosecutor Scott Wilson said in an introductory statement before Queen’s Court Justice Susan Bensler.
Dwayne Ayn Turner, 54, Tyrel Noskie, 32, and Yahie Gabad, 25, are on trial for first-degree murder. A fourth man, Timothy Jones, was also charged but died earlier this year.
On January 5, 2020, first aid services found Goodigel wounded in the middle of 11th Avenue near Center Street South.
The victim was taken to hospital, but died from his wounds.
Goodigall “conquered” by a group
Video from security cameras from neighboring companies shows that Goodeagle was attacked in the parking lot of the Circle K store by four people.
Goodigle tried to escape, but he was “overwhelmed,” said Wilson, who described the victim as being pushed, punched, kicked and stabbed.
A witness to the murder will testify that two of the killers called on two others to come to the store to “strike” Goodigell, Wilson said.
The prosecutor said he and co-defendant Ken McCafrey would claim that the murder was planned, deliberate and that Goodiggle was forcibly imprisoned during the attack, which makes the crime a first-degree murder.
Dr. Bernard Banach, the first witness to the Crown, testified that the victim died of stab wounds, one of which penetrated his liver and cut a large vein.
Goodigle also received blunt force injuries to his head, shoulder, arms and knees.
Defense attorneys Clayton Rice, Rebecca Snookel and Sean Leochko represent the defendants.
