“Wrong identity” is to blame for the death of BC’s correctional officer in 2021, police say – BC

More than a year after Bikramdip Randhava was killed in a parking lot in Delta, British Columbia, police say they are “convinced” of the wrong identity.

An BC Corrections employee was shot and killed in a Walmart parking lot on May 1, 2021. No charges have been filed to date.

After extensive interviews and more than 300 follow-up tasks in the investigation, Delta police also said they were “confident” that they had identified suspects in the murder.

“Investigators believe Mr Randhava’s killers mistaken him for a man involved in the gang’s ongoing conflict in the Lower Continent,” Delta police said in a press release on Tuesday.

“This investigation is active and Delta police are working with other partner agencies to bring those responsible for the killing.

Asked if charges could be filed against possible suspects soon, Sergeant. Gary Kunar said that in order to secure charges, there must be enough evidence to meet the threshold for approving the charge. The investigation is ongoing, he added.

Randhava was 29 when he was killed and has worked at the Fraser Regional Correctional Center since 2016, according to BC Corrections.

The organization then said it was “deeply saddened” by the tragedy. Shortly after his death, more than 100 people attended a vigil in his honor.

“He was just a loving man,” Randhava Dupinder’s brother said at a candlelight ceremony on May 7, 2021. “I don’t know how this thing happened to him.” I’m still in shock. “

Randhawa took additional courses to become an RCMP officer before being killed, his brother added.
