Rumors of a potentially foldable mobile device from Google have been circulating for some time. As Google focuses a number of features on Android 12L around tablets and folders, there is a strong reason to believe that 2022 will be the year when Google finally launches the Pixel folder. And the best part is that Google will value the devices much lower than Samsung’s Z Fold & Z Flip phones.
In terms of software experience and mastery, no other Android smartphone comes close. However, the same cannot be said for the hardware side of things. The hardware used in Pixel devices is a constant disappointment, only to be saved by Google’s software integration. Things have started to take a new direction with the new Tensor processors that Google uses.
Rick Young, of Display Chain Consultants or DSCC, recently tweeted sharing some details about Pixel’s upcoming folding device, sharing what to expect.
Z Fold 4 and Google foldable will have folding displays of similar size, but the Google cover screen will be much smaller by 5.8 “. This should mean that there will be a wider ratio of countries than Samsung 6 , 19 “Fold 4. Hear more in our conference next week.

According to Rick and his team, Google’s foldable device will be similar to the Samsung Z Fold 4 at least for the main display. The display on the outer cover will be smaller by 5.8 inches.
He also revealed that the Pixel Fold should be released in the last quarter of 2022, soon after Google launches Android 13. Android 13 is expected to be more convenient for foldable phones and devices with a wider aspect ratio.
In addition to Google’s software integration, the hearing price, if true, will be the main reason why Pixel Fold dominates the folding phone market. The Pixel Fold is expected to be priced at around $ 1,400. While this would make the Pixel Fold significantly more expensive than the cheapest Pixel 6, as well as the Pixel 7, it will still be about $ 400 cheaper than the cheapest Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. However, , keep in mind that Samsung plans to significantly reduce the price for upcoming folding devices.
One of the biggest remarks customers have had with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the external screen on the lid of the device. For many users, the narrow aspect ratio of the display screen makes it very difficult to use moments. It will be interesting to see if Google actually launches Pixel Fold worldwide.
