Investigators say there is no evidence to suggest a wicked game in the deaths of four Royal Military College cadets who died on campus in Kingston, Ont., Last week, according to an update from the Office of the Vice Chancellor of the Canadian Forces.
Meanwhile, investigators are also asking anyone with information about the incident to come out.
At around 2 a.m. on April 29, a vehicle carrying the four officer cadets, all in their graduation year, entered the water near Point Frederick, a peninsula between Kingston Harbor and the Navy Bay on the St. Lawrence River.
The four cadets were later identified as Andrei Honchiu, Jack Hogarth, Andres Salek and Broden Murphy.
The National Investigation Service of the Canadian Forces (CFNIS), the independent military police unit of the Canadian Forces, was initially cited as a leading investigative agency.
In Wednesday’s update, the Office of the Canadian Forces Vice Rector Marshal said CFNIS now supports an ongoing investigation by Ontario’s chief coroner. Kingston Police and the local military police force will also provide support.
“Ontario forensic doctors are investigating deaths that appear to be unnatural or natural deaths that occur suddenly or unexpectedly,” the statement said.
Little details have been released about the incident. CFNIS will not provide any additional information until the investigator has completed his report, according to the statement.
The vice-chancellor’s office also asked anyone with details of the incident to call the CFNIS hotline at 1-888-812-3647.
