FLORENCE, Alabama – A prisoner on suspicion of murder in Alabama has visited the prisoner many times in prison and was in a “special relationship” with him for nearly two years before the couple disappeared, The Post has learned.
Vicki White and inmate Casey Cole White – who apparently escaped together on Friday – have been linked since late 2020, when he was brought under the jurisdiction of prison guards on murder charges, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton told The Post on Wednesday.
At the time, Casey was serving a 75-year sentence at the William E. Donaldson Penitentiary in Jefferson County for a different case and was transported to Lauderdale County to be charged with new murder charges, Singleton explained in a sitting meeting. interview.
After the indictment, Casey was returned to prison, about two hours south of Lauderdale County, where Vicki visited him many times and developed a comfortable relationship with him, Singleton said.
It is not immediately clear how the two met when Casey was in Lauderdale County, but as assistant director of correction, Vicki’s main job was to transport prisoners.
“What we understand now is that they have been in communication from 2020 to the present, such as communication, visits and what not,” the sheriff explained.

“I’m sure they probably communicated by other means, you know, phone calls or whatever.”
In a brief interview late Tuesday, Casey’s mother, Connie White, was asked about Vicki, and although the mother said she had never heard of the woman, she mentioned that her son had a “writing friend” with whom he kept in touch.
She also claims that Casey admitted to the new murder charges, which he accused of breaking into the home of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway and stabbing her to death because he did not like the prison in which he was appointed and who wanted a change of landscape.
Singleton said the head of the prison had visited inmates at the William E. Donaldson Penitentiary in Jefferson County. Daniel William McKnight
“He wrote a letter saying he had killed this woman. But he didn’t actually kill her, he just did it to get her back here, “Connie said.
“He just wanted to get out of this prison because it was so bad and there was no food.
Casey was transported back to Jefferson County after being charged, but on February 25, the alleged killer returned to Lauderdale County to await trial for Ridgeway’s death.
However, before the trial even began, he fled on Friday morning.
White was returned to Lauderdale County in February to stand trial for the alleged murder of Connie Ridgeway.
Singleton has revealed new details about the well-planned escape and said that before the couple disappeared, Vicky bought an obvious escape vehicle, a 2007 orange Ford Edge, which she hid in the parking lot of Florence Square Mall.
Vicky is said to have disguised the prominent vehicle in a prominent place by parking it in a number of cars that were for sale, Singleton said. On the day of the escape, Vicki abandoned her patrol cruiser in the same mall and is believed to have taken off in a Ford Edge.
Cops caught the apparent escape car after a concerned citizen called to say he saw her at the mall on Thursday night, just hours before the escape.
“[He] he looked at those cars and said he had this orange SUV he was looking at, “Singleton said.
“He went to get the number because he was interested in it and there was no sales sign and number, and he thought it was weird.

Eventually, investigators tracked the car to a car dealership in Florence, which assisted the cops in their investigation.
After photos of the car were posted in a random post on social media, the sheriff’s office was flooded with surveillance tips from Kentucky, Tennessee and all the way to Florida, Singleton said.
“And, of course, we checked them all, and none of them worked,” Singleton said.

“But you know, one of these days we’re going to get this call and it’s going to be them.
“The demand we make is based on what potential customers we get or what advice. We are not focused on any area. “
Now that the public has caught the car, Singleton said, he is worried the couple will throw away the car and find a new set of wheels.
“We assume that if they have not already done so, they will probably get rid of this car and then return to the starting position, as far as we know what they are in,” the sheriff explained.
“This is a major obstacle to this investigation.”
