VicPD issued a warning after a woman was attacked from behind in James Bay last weekend.
The incident happened in block 400 on Simcoe Street around 10 pm on Saturday night.
Police said the woman, who was walking her dog during the attack, sustained head and face injuries.
According to police, a man approached the woman from behind, pushing her into a corner of a building.
The force of the push caused the woman to hit the wall of the building with her face, which caused tears and additional head injuries.
As the woman lay on the ground, the suspect searched her pockets before fleeing the scene.
The man did not steal anything from the victim.
The suspect in the incident was described as an approximately 50-year-old Caucasian man, 6 feet tall and slender. He had gray hair and a blue or green jacket. The woman reported the incident to police on Tuesday after visiting the hospital, as she began to experience additional symptoms of a head injury caused by the attack.
Her injuries are considered life-threatening, but continue to affect her well-being. VicPD officials are continuing to investigate the incident and search the area for video surveillance.
