Baltimore 12, 13-year-old boys arrested for alleged car theft from a service station

Baltimore police detained two boys, aged 12 and 13, after allegedly trying to steal a car from a garage.

The minors entered the service yard in block 100 on South Warwick Avenue in the Carrollton Ridge neighborhood in Baltimore, southwest of the city.

“As they entered the yard, the minors worked together to steal a vehicle,” the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) wrote in a press release on Thursday. “A minor broke the car window and left, crashing into another car [i]n yard blocking the exit. The other minor kept the gate to the garage open so they could get out. “

The two boys continued to drive “recklessly” through the Southwest region, “attracting the attention of citizens who reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the area.” Eventually, they crashed into a civilian vehicle.

A BPD helicopter helped officers from the department’s Regional Car Theft Task Force locate the stolen vehicle, which “eventually crashed into Baltimore County and crashed into Block 4300 on Southwest Boulevard.”

Police have detained 12- and 13-year-old boys for car theft and traffic violations. They were then taken to a local hospital and formal charges will be filed later, police said.
