A 14-year-old girl was hit and killed by a dump truck in Burnaby on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 3 pm in block 7100 on 11th Avenue. The driver of the commercial vehicle – a dump truck towing a dump trailer – remained on the scene and assisted the police.
A warehouse that serves 18 wheels is about a block from the place where the accident took place.
“We understand that a tragic incident like this will be felt widely in the community. The Burnaby RCMP is looking for ways to support those affected by this tragic death. Our Victim Services Unit is also involved and offering support to those affected, ”they said. cap. Brett Cunningham in a news release.
The Burnaby RCMP’s Clashes Investigation Team (CCIT) is working to determine the circumstances of the crash. Injury to the driver is not considered to be a contributing factor.
