UPDATE at 12:21 p.m.
A Telus spokesman confirmed that they were investigating an interruption of the 911 service affecting residents of South and Central Okanagan on Thursday.
“We are working closely with our partner E-Comm to investigate the root cause of yesterday’s outage. “Telus teams fully restored the service shortly after 7 pm yesterday, and we can confirm that the network remains stable,” said a spokeswoman for Liz Sauve Telus.

There is still no explanation as to why the 911 service stopped for four hours on Thursday night in Central and South Okanagan.
E-Comm 911, the company responsible for providing the service to most of BC, said on Friday it had launched a full-scale technical investigation.
“We estimate that you want to follow up and get more details about yesterday’s break. E-Comm will release an update after Telus completes its investigation, but we have no further information to share at this time, an E-Comm spokesman told Castanet.
The spokesman noted that the system is now stable and callers in the affected areas can dial 911 as usual.
In a news release from E-Comm 911 on Thursday around 4 pm, the company said that the “interruption of the service” caused the 911 phone number to stop working. The service was restored about 20 hours ago
The break comes after a similar break in the Kelowna area on April 24. E-Comm told Castanet that the outage occurred during a “planned evacuation”.
Castanet contacted Telus for more details on the outage.
