At a news conference Thursday, Wright accused police of escalating a situation “that should not have escalated.”

“I didn’t break the law,” Wright said. “I only did what was right and what everyone else had to do. And I’m standing here today because I don’t want a policeman like this to patrol our community. He is escalating a situation that he should not have escalated. “
