Edmonton police have seized a banned MAC-10 submachine gun.
The seizure was carried out by the Alberta Organized Crime Team.
Officers reportedly witnessed a man leave a residence in North Edmonton linked to drug trafficking, ALERT said in a statement on Friday.
The man was carrying what a police spokesman described as a weighted bag. MAC-10 was found in this bag.
“MAC-10 is an anomaly, certainly not something that is common in Edmonton,” said ALERT spokesman Mike Tucker. “It’s a big concern for everyone.”
