Suspect wanted for murder of Calgary’s mother taken into custody – Calgary

Calgary police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the murder of a young mother from Calgary.

Gerald Russell Frommelt was detained Friday afternoon at a 1900 block of 24 Street SW in the Killarney community.

Frommelt faces charges of second-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Jaime Scheibl.

Police were called to block 300 of Templeview Drive NE after reports of gunfire on April 7. They find Scheible unconscious and in medical care. She later died of her wounds.

On April 12, an all-Canada order was issued for Frommelt.

Police said they believed it was domestic violence or intimate partner violence, as the two had recently been in a relationship.
