The Brooks RCMP is investigating after the bodies of a woman and her eight-month-old daughter were found in a home on Saturday night.
Officials say police were called to the scene at a home in Newell County, Altasia, around 8pm on May 7th.
The RCMP says a man arrived at the home and found the bodies of the woman and child, who is his daughter.
“Major crime investigators have been linked to assist in the investigation and search of the area where the deceased man was located a short distance away,” the RCMP said in a statement.
The man is believed to be the victim’s brother and sister, and police say he died of his injuries.
Police say there is no risk to society, but call the situation a “tragic loss of life”.
“These are (very) very difficult circumstances for the victims’ family and community,” the sergeant said. Eric Youngstrom of the Alberta Division of the Alberta RCMP.
“We will continue to investigate and seek to establish what happened. The family is now asking for privacy.
The autopsy is scheduled for May 10.
