A man and a woman were killed while at least four people were injured in three separate shootings in Philadelphia within two hours of Mother’s Day.
The first shooting took place at the intersection of Kensington Avenue and Clearfield Street on Sunday at 16:18.
A 25-year-old woman was shot once in the head and a 40-year-old man was shot once in the right thigh. Police told NBC10 that the man was an innocent passerby and was walking in the area.
Both victims were taken to Temple University Hospital. The woman is in critical condition and the man is stable.
The second shooting took place on block 900 on East Schiller Street at 5:40 p.m.
A 21-year-old man was shot several times in his body, an 18-year-old man was shot once in his right leg and a 26-year-old man was shot once in the upper left thigh.
The 21-year-old man was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:08 p.m. The 18-year-old was taken to Temple and is in stable condition. The 26-year-old man was eventually taken to Jefferson-Frankford Hospital and is in stable condition.
The third shooting took place at 17:44 on block 900 on West Girard Avenue. A 36-year-old woman was shot at least five times in the lower body. She was taken to Jefferson University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m.
No one was arrested in any of the shootings, and police have not released information about the suspects.
As of Saturday night, 161 homicides had taken place in Philadelphia, 10 percent less than the same time last year, making it the deadliest in history.
